1- Introduction:
The starting line and sentence is the most important one. You want grab the reader’s attention, and not let it go until you are finished. State your goals.
2- The body of the SOP:
Flesh out the details of who you are and what you’ve accomplished.
3- Your Educational Background:
Provide details of your education history – dates when the course started and ended, the name and address of the school, Show that you are academically prepared for your chosen program include the following:
You have to prove here that your chosen course or working experience is directly linked up with your previous studies.
If your chosen program is in a different field of study, explain how the new course will be helpful and beneficial to attain your future goals and in practical life.
4- Describe your professional goals:
Why do you wish to study in Canada/UK or in your chosen country in the program for which you have been accepted? What is your overall educational goal? Why are you not studying a similar program in your home country? What study have you done into if you do the same course from your country of residence or of citizenship? After completion of your course of study from abroad how will this program increase your job and employment opportunities in your country?
What is your overall educational goal? Why you think your chosen course of study interesting? What influenced you to choose that field? Does it have any associated experience or research you’ve had or been concerned in to date?
Describe your future plans after receiving your degree. Will you be continuing in your education, or will you be working in your field?
5- Describe your reason to study abroad:
Why do you wish to study in Canada/UK or in your chosen country in the program for which you have been accepted or applying? What is your overall educational goal? Why are you not studying a similar program from your own country?
Have your made any research related to your studies in your country? Give the reasons how will this program accelerate your employability in your own country?
Mention the reasons why you want to study your chosen course and why this particular university?
Explain the why this program is so important for your coming career and how great is the need.
Describe why and what led you to choose this university— like its courses, facilities, faculty, research projects etc.
6- Family and Financial Background:
What family ties do you have in your country? This is very important factor while assessing your application and that you will come to your home country. Also mention here the details of your finances to support your education abroad.
7- Conclusion:
Figure out the main reasons and points, and explain what you can put in to the program.
8- List all the enclosures:
You will add up in your application and will provide a very brief description of your portfolio.
9- Provide your contact information:
Here you will provide your contact details so if there is a need to contact you they can do it easily
10- Review Your Statement:
Start to read your SOP and revise it carefully and edit and rewrite where necessary.
The size of your SOP should be up to 1000 words maximum. So it must be concise and meaningful.
It is recommended; let the SOP sit for a few days after you’ve completed it. After few days come back with a fresh mind and ideas and start to revise it.
As a nutshell, cut the husks. Is there anything in your SOP that is not absolutely necessary, or doesn’t tie well to the other parts? If you can’t revise it so that it fits, delete it. Remember that whoever will read your SOP has a lot of SOP’s to get through, and only has time for the information that matters.
